I found this article which discusses the discrepancy of price charges to patients among some hospitals. It reminded of last week's workshop for the Boston cohort on Health Advocacy with Paul Hattis, Associate Director from Tufts Medical School since he discussed a bit about costs. He also highlighted that on October 1st insurers would be advertising costs for different procedures online.
Please discuss any thoughts you have on this!
Very interesting article. Patients may have to start shopping around for the best value for money from the various health institutions. Health institutions are getting away with the high prices because they are aware that patients in serious medical conditions have no choice. I think the population needs to be educated on issues such as this. Even though Medicare is paying of the health expenses, patients have to pretend that they are paying out their pockets. That is the only way change would come on this issue.
