Community Health Career Exploration Program (CHCEP)

Description: The Community Health Career Exploration Program (CHCEP) engages with undergraduate students to gain workforce experiences in community health. This program will offer career exploration, direct service, and didactic training opportunities for undergraduate students who are interested in mental/behavioral health, primary care, and other health professions. Students will train in a dynamic and interprofessional health center environment, and learn about social determinants of health that impact medically underserved communities.
Time Commitment: Undergraduate students will commit a minimum of
10 hours per week for four (4) weeks from July 10 – August 4, 2017 at an
assigned community health center (Asian Health Services, Axis Community
Health, La Clinica, LifeLong Medical Care, Native American Health Center,
Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, Tri‐City Health Center, West Oakland Health Council) in Alameda or Contra Costa County.

Qualifications:

  • Current part/full time students enrolled in community college or a 4 year university
  • Strong commitment to equality and social justice for medically underserved communities
  • willingness to learn, develop cultural humility, and respect all core values of our organization
