You and Your Authentic Career in Six Words

My wife and I get The Oprah Magazine. It always has great insights into choosing and living the life and career that fits who you really are.  The February issue had a feature called “You in Six Words”  It was inspired by a 5 year project by Smith Magazine in which they asked people to describe their lives in six words.  I think it is an interesting and empowering way to consider and describe who you are. While we all have multiple ways we could describe ourselves, depending on the perspective we want to take, I encourage you to create and share your 6 word story related to either your life overall or your authentic career (or both!).

I like Oprah’s description, which explains a lot about what she does and the content of her magazine-“Seeking the fullest expression of self” Oprah Winfrey.  Perhaps more important than the words is that she lives and acts aligned with that focus.

I too seek the fullest expression of myself and encourage all of you to do the same.  My own six word description “Empowering people to realize their potential” is closely related.  What’s cool and powerful for me is that I fulfill my purpose through helping you find and live yours.  Being a Gemini I am allowed a second life focus which is “Love, enjoy and support my family”. My goal and challenge is to fulfill both.  I have made intentional life and career choices that have enabled me to make both more central and to make good progress. Advancing My Health Career is part of it. I still have a way to go and ongoing challenges (being who you truly are isn’t always easy and may not happen on your schedule) but it is possible and you can do it!

So to help you make progress, please create your own six word description of you and your authentic career.  If you feel comfortable, please share my commenting on the blog or in the forum. Putting it out there helps make it more real and possible. At least share with someone you love and who will support you.  I look forward to learning about you in six words.
