Description of the Childhood Obesity Prevention Study:

This study aims to integrate an early obesity prevention program with Montefiore’s nationally recognized Healthy Steps Program, a parenting program, which incorporates mental health and behavioral health specialists in pediatric primary care. This new integrated program will promote healthy infant feeding and activity, enhance general parenting skills, and address maternal psychosocial risks, such as maternal depression, anxiety, stress and financial difficulties.

Highlights of the position include:

  •  Direct patient-contact in administering surveys to patients in prenatal and pediatric primary care.
  •  Recruiting research participants
  •  Obtaining informed consent
  •  Assisting with program coordination and participant tracking
  •  Data entry, conducting medical chart reviews, and data cleaning.
  •  Learning how to analyze quantitative data.
  •  Gaining exposure to the cutting-edge field of integrated primary care and the innovative blend of pediatric and psychology services for early child obesity prevention.
  •  Receiving mentoring from a clinical and research-oriented pediatrician and psychologist.
  •  Assist in the preparation of conference presentations and/or manuscripts summarizing study results
  •  Competitive salary and benefits included.

Required time commitment
 Full time (40 hours per week)
 12-month commitment
