Program Overview:Kaiser Permanente-s Northern California Operations Fellowship Program is designed to prepare early career individuals develop into well-rounded, high-performing health care professional through a one-year rotational program. The program is sponsored by the Office of the President, Kaiser Permanente Northern California Region.

Fellows participate in a structured, preceptor-directed, planned program of development that consists of a learning and working practical experience in a health care facility beyond the graduate-level academic classroom instruction and/or residency experience.

The objective of the fellowship is to develop the next generation of health care operations professionals.

Program Curriculum:
  • Rotations will be located in Northern California.
  • Fellows will be assigned a leader mentor.
  • Each rotation will be six-months in duration in regional and medical operations.
  • Some fellowships are general in nature, while others specialize in multi-hospital systems, academic medical centers, corporate administration, group practice management, etc.
  • Specific work assignments will make up a major portion of the fellowship and will provide significant exposure to medical center operations.
  • These include solution of management problems, specific assignments in policy analysis, short and long term leadership roles, and/or accomplishments of specific work projects.
  • Rotational assignments may include:
  • Medical Center Operations
  • Patient Care Services
  • Strategic Planning Process
  • Portfolio Management Office
  • Financial Planning and Performance

    Essential Functions:
  • A fellowship program is a structured, preceptor-directed, planned program of development that consists of a learning and working practical experience in a health care facility beyond the graduate-level academic classroom instruction and/or residency experience and after the conferring of the master's degree.
  • These programs are usually one or two years in duration.
  • Some fellowships are general in nature, while others specialize in multi-hospital systems, academic medical centers, corporate administration, group practice management, etc.
  • The objective of the Fellowship is to prepare students broadly for practice across the field or sub-field.
  • Specific working assignments should constitute a major portion of the fellowship.
  • These include solution of management problems, specific assignments in policy analysis, short and long term leadership roles, or accomplishments of specific work projects.

  • Master's degree required.

  • N/A.

    Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management partnership environment.
