What: Communications Analyst
Start Date: January to early February 2018
Compensation: Competitive relative to candidate experience
Time commitment: Up to 20 hours a week
Seeking a motivated communications analyst with a public health passion to provide strategic
support to three high profile projects based at the Public Health Institute. One project is the
launch of a national center entitled the Center to Advance Community Health and Equity
(CACHE); a second is a statewide project entitled the California Future Health Workforce
Commission; and the third is a regional project entitled the East Bay Health Workforce
Partnership. The analyst will also have the opportunity to network with key leaders for each
project. This person will report separately to the program managers of each project. We are
seeking a skilled graduate intern and/or a recent graduate of relevant academic programs.
Description of Responsibilities/ Expectations
1. Maintain daily social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) for three separate
a. Post additional materials provided by team members or partners
2. Create and distribute newsletters (biweekly or monthly) for each project
a. Edited and approved by supervisor(s)
3. Create and distribute electronic promotional material as needed
4. Maintain stakeholder contact information
5. Basic website maintenance and web page development as requested.
a. Workload would include:
i. Updating web page content as material is provided
ii. Creating additional webpages as needed
b. Website/newsletter platforms include:
iv. Constant Contact
6. Quarterly Report: Provide a 1-2 page report per program measuring success of
promotion (number of people visiting pages, number of likes/follows, etc), outlining
actions, and giving recommendations for additional actions needed to increase
7. Work with leadership teams to develop and implement communication strategies.
East Bay Health Workforce Partnership
The East Bay Health Workforce Partnership (EBHWP) is an employer-led effort working closely with community and education leaders to meet the workforce needs of employers, expand opportunity for local residents, and strengthen the economic and social well-being of the East Bay. There are five (5) working groups of the EBHWP. They are as follows:
Primary Care CORPS:
The Primary Care CORPS is an initiative of the Primary Care Workgroup of the EBHWP. It provides both in-person and online opportunities and resources for students (high school to post-graduate) to explore and engage in primary care career options and professionals in the field.
Center to Advance Community Health & Equity
The Center to Advance Community Health & Equity (CACHE) is housed at the Public Health Institute and has expertise to help nonprofit hospitals, health systems, and other stakeholders translate data into better community investments. A team of health experts, advocates, funders, and community members came together, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, to develop CACHE. CACHE helps users interpret data from Community Benefit Insight, and couple it with existing tools and resources for strategic community benefit implementation.

California Future Health Workforce Commission
The California Future Health Workforce Commission (CFHWC) is a private commission housed at the Public Health Institute with support from 5 of California’s leading health philanthropies. The Commission was created to help the state close the gap between the health workforce we have and the workforce we need. The Commission is composed of recognized senior leaders who represent California’s diversity and bring expertise from health, education, employment, labor, and government sectors with the goal of creating a Master Plan for the future of CA’s health workforce.
