Community Engagement Coordinator

California Health Collaborative 

Under general direction of the Program Manager, (PM) the Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) supports the planning, implementation and evaluation activities of the San Bernardino County Tobacco Control Program.


  1. Consults with the PM, relative to planning, policy and program direction.
  2. Responsible for providing intervention activities to reduce/prevent use of tobacco among priority populations (i.e. Hispanic/Latinos) for the Tobacco Control Program.  The CEC, in conjunction with the PM, will represent the program at all community and educational-based community events and activities.
  3. Provides support to the PM in the development of functional program work plans, which are intended to direct program activities in the achievement of program goals and objectives.
  4. Under general direction of the PM, and in conjunction with the program evaluator, performs ongoing process and outcome evaluations.
  5. Under general direction of the PM, assists with plans and logistics for all program meetings and educational presentations.
  6. Provides support in the development of proposals, applications, and/or requests for new or continued funding.
  7. Represents the California Health Collaborative at meetings with committees, community agencies, care providers and related entities, and facilitates inter-agency linkages, communication and collaboration.
  8. Under the general direction of the PM, procures required levels of community support to assure contract compliance.
  9. Coordinates with the San Bernardino County Tobacco Control Coalition (Coalition) Chair and/or Co-Chair to plan and schedule all tasks related to quarterly Coalition meetings and ad-hoc subcommittee meetings.  Responsibilities include preparing a meeting agenda, taking and distributing minutes, contacting and scheduling presenters, and arranging meeting room logistics.
  10. Coordinates with PM, Project Director and the Coalition to increase diversity of the Coalition membership and include active participation from Hispanic/Latinos, as well as other ethnically diverse groups represented in the county’s demographics.


  • Education and experience requirements are: a Bachelor’s degree in Community Health, Child Development, Social Work or a related field and a minimum of one year experience working with high risk youth and families in a culturally diverse setting


  • A combination of work experience and education, indicating an ability to fulfill the requirements of the position.  Two years related experience may be substituted for each year of college credit.

  • A valid California Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to make effective presentations to both professional groups and the public in English, Spanish and/or Hmong.
  • Ability to travel and, if necessary, attend out of town meetings or conferences which could require overnight travel.
