Project Manager - Health Education and Tobacco Program

Job Description

  • The Health Programs department within Health Education, Engagement and Promotion is responsible for the strategic development and execution of patient education programs and services across multiple Stanford Healthcare service lines and within the community. Staff provide high quality and cost effective project management, consulting, and technical expertise in health education. Team has expertise in behavioral change, adult learning, group process theory, health literacy, and cultural competency techniques and their applications.

    The successful candidate will be involved in developing, delivering, and evaluating tobacco cessation treatment for patients and their families, at Stanford's Comprehensive Cancer Center and throughout Stanford Health Care. Working with a multi-disciplinary team, activities will include supporting clinical training in-services and partnerships; working with IT on electronic medical record system enhancements to streamline referrals; obtaining coaching in tobacco treatment best practices through the Stanford Tobacco Cessation Program; and delivering tobacco cessation counseling (in-person and via telemedicine); and data management and analysis to support the program evaluation. This position is suitable for a highly motivated self-learner who excels in a dynamic environment offering varied learning opportunities.
    This is a grant funded position expected to last five (5) years
    Competitive salary and opportunities for travel.

Essential Functions:

  • Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the management and other stakeholders. Manages program design and structure to align with organizations' key initiatives and projects within the assigned group, develops strategic input for the Director regarding business objectives of clients for both current and future projects.
  • Researches, develops and produces project charters.
  • Develops and manages workplans.
  • Partners with Operations Manager(s) to identify and develop potential implementation and deployment strategies based on existing or new workflows. Understands department workflow.
  • Implements quality control measures to ensure project and participant compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates data; analyze performance and potential economics underlying proposals.
  • Develops methodologies for tracking and reporting.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate, coherent, timely and auditable reports and cost estimates. Provides progress reports in written and presentation format.
  • Coordinates, participates in, and may lead staff training and competency assessments. Develops unit programs, roles/responsibilities, and program algorithms as appropriate.
  • In conjunction with other departments/contacts, reviews reports related to participant performance, and provides additional coaching and/or training, as needed.
  • Tracks advances in equipment technology, makes recommendations for additional or replacement equipment.
  • Conducts rounds to all patient care areas for consultation, coaching, promotion of program goals.
  • Coordinates interdisciplinary communication efforts regarding program, including paper forms and patient handouts. Works with program champions, stakeholders, and vendors associated with the program and related clinical departments to develop and distribute publicity materials for program.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field (e.g., psychology, public health or related behavioral science discipline) from an accredited college or university.

Experience
Four years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
