Position Summary
Research assistant needed to participate in clinical and research studies in biobehavioral medicine, neuropsychiatry, and Lyme disease. The position is both clinical and administrative. Clinical tasks include serving as the initial telephone interviewer to screen patients for research studies, patient recruitment, conducting basic vital signs and blood draws & aliquoting, assisting in fMRI procedures, and accompanying patients through other clinical and study procedures. Data management tasks include data entry, organizing and tracking data and quality data management for ongoing studies. RA prepares clinical and research charts, scans and files documents, tracks lab results, and mails reports to patients. RA will need to travel to other locations as he/she may be expected to visit community physician offices to collect biological samples. Because this position involves patient contact, it requires patience, persistence, empathy, and clinical skill. The administrative part requires skill in multi-tasking, organization, and efficiency. Flexibility in hours is needed, as fMRI procedures & occasional community screenings can run into evening/weekend time. This is an ideal position for someone seeking clinical research experience prior to an advanced degree in psychology or medicine.
