RECAP: Careers in Behavioral Health Webinar

On November 15, 2017, MyHealth Career Navigator hosted a webinar on emerging careers in behavioral health. Our awesome panelists were Kristin Dempsey, LMFT, LPCC, a Senior Associate at CIBHS and a project manager for the Greater Bay Area Mental Health and Education Workforce Collaborative and Lisa Smusz, MS, LPCC from Social Changery. 

The webinar went into great detail on the types of careers one can enter into in behavioral health and tips on how to get there. With behavioral and mental health becoming more of a national concern in the United States, opportunities in the field in increase. Here is a brief recap of the webinar:


Types of Careers in Behavioral Health

  • Working with individuals with mental health problems and supporting them in there recovery

Working in the behavioral health field is challenging but highly rewarding because you have the opportunity to make an impact in someone's life everyday. Employment of substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors is projected to grow 22 percent from 2014 to 2024.Employment of mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists is projected to grow 19 percent from 2014 to 2024.
